These are mineral insulated thermocouples with tapered measuring tips. The design combines mineral insulated cables with a larger outer diameter with thinner measuring tips, ensuring a short response time even under heavy mechanical loads.

Prevailing tapered designs are for example:

• - Mineral insulated thermocouples 4.5mm tapered to 3.0mm
• - Mineral insulated thermocouples 1.5mm tapered to 1.0mm
• - Mineral insulated thermocouples 1.5mm tapered to 0.5mm
